Gimmick

Gimmick is a struggling street magician that attempts doing magic shows for any audiences in order to make a living. Together with his animal friend Hop, a small, white haired bunny, the two go around attempting to see if they can make a breakthrough in their magic acts and finally be able to sustain themselves by doing what they love to do most. Of course, while passion and self-fulfilment are part of why he does magic, a major driving factor in him wanting to improve is to prove to his family that he can handle himself and not have to rely on his family's wealth, primarily to his father. Mick comes from a family of high wealth and influence thanks to his father's sudden rise in social class. A "spellcasting prodigy" from a young age, he is a powerful magic user and has garnered the respect of many through sheer talent and charisma, casting a large shadow that Mick has had to live in almost his entire life. Determined to show others what he's made of and finally earn the respect of his father, Gimmick sets off with Hop one day and leaves his home and all else behind to try and prove himself.

Although Gimmick is a performer, he's actually a very shy person and tends to fumble a lot of his magic acts as a result of this. While he has the passion and enthusiasm for performing, Gimmick doesn't get much an audience and rarely gets a chance to prove himself to others with his magic. Due to repeatedly getting ignored and getting denied attention constantly his whole life, he's developed a bit of an inferiority complex and is now plagued with lots of self-doubt. He has a lot of respect for others, especially for the friends he eventually meets, but it stems from how little he sees himself and will uplift others at the cost of putting himself down often. Mick is a people-pleaser and will often try to find the path of least resistance when interacting with others.

One day, Gimmick is given a rare opportunity, the chance to use a small venue for a one-night only show so long as he can bring in enough people on his own. Unfortunately, no one decides to go and the venue seats are all empty... except for one last minute arrival. They don't seem to be from the area, and looked liked they had ran an entire marathon before taking a front seat and catching their breath. Now that there was, technically speaking, an audience present, the show begins--along with the start of a new friendship...
